After a long, cold, icy, broken-bone-filled winter, A few months ago I finally got my groove back and headed out on the treasure hunting trail! Every week I check the local papers (online) and Craig's List for a list of Estate Sales in my area. I've been known to drive quite a distance if it sounds good, but sometimes, well, that doesn't work out the way I hope!
So last month when I found an ad for a "too good to be true" sale, I set off with my list of stops and gps in my Iphone, with no expectations. . . . .
WRONG! Not only did I find this chair, I found an absolute plethera of vintage treasure that I've slowly been sifting through. In fact, I was so enthralled in the other treasures that I seriously could not focus on the red burlap chair of my dreams. The woman running the sale knew that I was interested, so we exchanged numbers, as I (stupidly!) just didn't wanna deal with a chair. WHAT WAS I THINKING???! ($25.00 - a steal!)
I got home and immediately called her, and she marked it sold and I returned the next day. Best part of the day though, when I got there, there were several boxes of vintage linens that had not been put out the first day of the sale for some reason. . . . . yippeeeeeeee!!!
The red burlap chair was in the master bedroom of this sweet old bungalow. It's actually a rocker, and in MINTY MINT condition. I'm envisioning the original owner reading or stitching before heading off to bed.
I didn't know her, but I'll bet she'd be happy that this beauty found a good home!
Talk Soon!
