I'm Done . . . .

With Winter, that is! Someone seriously hurt Mother Nature's feelings because we are in serious payback mode from the ol' gal!

I came back from the show in Fredericksburg, Virginia to a big honkin' blizzard! Fortunately, it wasn't until I was safely tucked away at home after having a fine visit with my gal pal Pam from Virginia Retro. Did you ever meet someone for the first time after "knowing them" for years as an "online" pal, and feel like you're truly old friends??! I sure did. Love her, got to meet her hubs too, but not her handsome puppy Doyle. Next time, though. Her sister lives in CT, about an hour from me, so we're definitely going to do another meet & greet!

So back to Nemo  Storm-zilla. . . . . My son and daughter in law had to wait 4 DAYS for their road to be plowed, they couldn't even GET to the house, we're talking 40 inches, think of a yardstick plus, of snow in every nook and cranny. The bonus for me was having them stay here, and I got to spend tons of time with my gal, so it's all good!  She was ready to go home yesterday, once she got the news that her street had been plowed and the cars dug out. She was in a bit of a panic as today is her first gymnastics lesson. Her preschool has been closed since last Thursday, but their town is slowly awakening and I'm glad to say that gymnastics IS ON, so that ought to be fun for my bestie. She was "practicing" this week, along with her Dora Gymnastics Doll. :).

So while couped up at home, I finished some projects. My RIOT scarf is finished, woohoo! I just need to take some decent pics of it and I'll show you. I L*O*V*E*D this project so much. It's a little bit fiddly changing colors every 2 rows, but I really enjoyed the process, every step of the way.  Photo coming soon.

I also finished up my mini Sweet Land of Liberty mini quilt, and made a few of these little quilty needle cases loosely based on the tutorial by Amy over at Nana Company. Of course, I gave it a vintage vibe using bits and pieces of vintage fabrics and buttons. Amy's instructions are easy and it's a quickie project so if you're in the mood for some instant-sewing-gratification, give it a go!

Alrighty, off I go to get some clean up done around here and onto the next project!

Linking up with Sue for REDNESDAY and wishing you all a very Happy Valentines Day!

Talk Soon! xo P

  1. Happy you are back. Hope you sold a ton:) We just got plowed out finally yesterday!!!!!!!! Don and Manny actually shoveled the driveway by hand twice because no one was able to do the job. I was so worried about them, you know my driveway! And now I hear we are getting more this weekend???? I'll bet it was fun spending some time with the kids though. I always love it when mine 'have' to camp out here heheheh:)

  2. Who knew that Mother Nature believes in payback?! We had such a dry summer and it was looking like it would be a dry winter, and then it snowed every day for a week, and we had lots of rain too!
LOVE those sweet needle cases, and I would really like to see your Sweet Land Of Liberty quilt. I went back a few posts, but didn't see it. Can you tell me which post has pics of it?
    Happy REDnesday,
    Carol

  4. Hi Patrice...my "new" "old" friend, LOL! Thanks for your sweet comments & the link to my blog. It really was fun meeting you in person & chatting like we've been friends forever! Now why do you & my sister live so far away in CT??? LOL!

Sounds like you had some fun while snowed in with your family. Glad you all made it through safely. My family did too.

Love your latest projects, so cute! Talk soon, xo, Pam

  5. 40" is a lot of snow! I don't think we've ever had that much here. Your quilt and needlebook are so pretty! And it sounds like you had a really fun visit with your friend!
